10 Questions with Ross Whittock (Rally Co-Driver)

How did it all start for you?

I caught the bug for rallying when I was young, as my dad was a professional co-driver. About 10 years ago I started road rallying in the UK and then started stage rallying 5 years ago.

What’s the most difficult thing about being a co-driver?

If you're not an organised co-driver then it can make the rallies difficult. But really getting a good rhythm with the notes on every stage can be hard, especially when conditions change all the time.

If you weren’t a rally co-driver, what would you be doing?

I would have a to say a sports scientist as I find this field interesting, and I have a degree in it.

What is the best/worst road car you have ever driven?

The worst car I have driven has to be the Smart ForFour. My kettle has more power than that thing! The best car I've driven is probably the Range Rover. It's just the comfiest car ever.

What would your ideal sandwich have on it?

I do like a BLT with Chicken and Mayo.

What car(s) do you own now and what’s your daily driver?

I currently own a Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost which is my daily drive, but I also have a classic Mini which I race when I have time.

Favorite car of all time?

Ferrari 458 Italia (in red, obviously).

Do you have any points on your driver’s license?

Unfortunately, I have 3 points...

RWD, AWD or FWD and why?

4 wheel drive. The traction from the modern day 4 wheel drive cars are unbelievable.

If you could be someone else for a day (dead or alive) who would you be?

Tony Stark aka Iron Man.
